Healthy Laddoos

Gond ke Laddoo is a traditional Indian sweet made with edible gum (gond), wheat flour, ghee, sugar, and nuts. Edible gum is fried until it puffs up, and then it's combined with roasted wheat flour, sugar, chopped nuts, and aromatic spices. The mixture is shaped into round laddoos, creating a delightful and nutritious treat often consumed during winter months for its perceived warming properties. It's not only a delicious dessert but also believed to have health benefits in some traditional practices.

Here's a simple recipe for Gond ke Laddoo:

Ingredients:

- 1 cup wheat flour

- 1 cup edible gum (gond)

- 1 cup powdered sugar

- 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)

- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)

- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions:

1. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the edible gum (gond) until it puffs up. Remove and keep aside.

2. In the same pan, roast the wheat flour until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.

3. Mix the roasted wheat flour with the fried edible gum in a large bowl.

4. Add powdered sugar, chopped nuts, and cardamom powder to the mixture. Mix well.

5. While the mixture is still warm, shape it into small laddoos (round balls) using your hands.

6. Let the laddoos cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
